Well, we've seen research moving in this direction for nearly ten years now, since the first observations that lead to research on ultra-low calorie diets extending life span. The theory was, at first, that perhaps humans only had a certain number of calories to burn over the course of a lifetime.  The idea that flavinoids, and eventually, resveratrol, could serve as a way to simulate the life-extending benefits of a very low calorie diet was subsequently demonstrated in a number of studies.

And now, we have a safe and simple test to give an indication of the rate at which one is aging.  Now, whether a person wants to know or not...
